Developing a shared cluster construct of instructional leadership in TALIS

Abstract In the Teaching and Learning International Survey (TALIS), instructional leadership is measured by self-reports of principals on three items only. When this measure investigated together with teacher satisfaction current work environment, no significant associations were found in Nordic countries participating TALIS 2013 round. This paper argues that a potential reason for might be severely underrepresented construct leadership. As an alternative approach, data from same study are used to establish two important dimensions at school level: 1) managing program 2) developing learning climate. Applying multilevel structural equation modelling (MSEM), we shared cluster constructs level observe modest relationships between these job environment. The brings our attention different approaches interpreting, exploring, making sense international large-scale studies, such as TALIS, joint perspective teachers.
